Abhishek Bachchan Would Rather Act!

When Paa was released in 2009 and did well, everyone said that Abhishek Bachchan should produce rather than act in films. And then he produced Shamitabh (2015), a film that vanished quietly over the horizon. So it could be a toss up on whether the producer’s hat suits him or not. But if asked, Abhishek is clear: “I dont like production,” he says, I hate being a producer. Honestly. He admits he likes the pre-production part, the time when plans are being made to put a film together, but dislikes it when as an actor he needs to keep his producer avatar in mind. When I did Paa, I was very conflicted between being the producer and the actor. The actor in me wanted to do one more take, but the producer in me kept saying, ‘Okay, we are running out of time. I didnt like that.
But he will indeed step back into the role if he finds creative inspiration in a story. That is when I will produce it, Abhishek is sure.
